Under Shadows, 2024-

The inspiration for Under Shadows grew out of observing how landscapes are transformed after being marked by various forces like rain, fire, mist, storms, or shadow. Moreover, it’s less about documenting those changes and more about the atmosphere they leave behind, the quiet weight, the unsettled stillness, or the strange beauty that follows. In addition, I wanted to capture the moment when the land still holds the weight of what has passed. It’s about how places carry their history quietly, in layers of darkness and light, and how the atmosphere shifts into something fragile but enduring. Similarly, many of these works are rooted in walks through forests, heaths, and along ocean paths, where the land feels both fragile and resilient. Ultimately, the series explores how these moments imprint themselves not just on the landscape, but also on the memory of those who move through them.

Under Shadows moves beyond just landscapes and into the psychological and human realm. Just like the land carries the marks of rain, fire, mist, or drought, people carry the marks of experience, often hidden beneath the “masks” they wear. Consequently, shadows become a metaphor for the unseen, the concealed, or the aftermath of what we’ve endured.
